This coastal set of soaps was probably less than $1 (each) to create and anyone can do it even if you cant free hand draw. I started with a 3 pack of soap from Dollar Tree. Because the soap was embossed with the brand name I had to use the soap planer (my daughter bought me for my birthday actually for candles but it works better on soap since that's what it was intended for) After I made the surface flat I took one piece of tissue paper (I purchased at the Dollar Tree in the gift wrap section). There is a shiny side and a matte side. You want to use the matte side. Find an image you like that is similar to a coloring book style (or draw your own on a piece of paper). I cut the piece of paper the size of the soap first so I knew what size to draw my swimsuit. Place the tissue paper on the drawing and trace it with the watercolor marker (Archival ink is permanent and wont smear) Once the drawing is on the tissue just let it sit for about an hour before you adhere it to ...

Halloween Recycled Paint Can

I repurposed this empty paint can into a Halloween decor piece and I am really happy with it. It can be used as a candy bin for Halloween night or to put Mums on your front porch the entire month of October. I had seen this ghost pattern on several Halloween decor pieces last year at Marshalls and fell in love with it. I love a repeat pattern so I had to try it and I knew it would be fairly easy to duplicate as you will see in my pics. I would say not to worry about messing up because in the end it will still look adorable. As you can see, my ghosts look completely different than the throw blanket photo I included which I used for reference. The jack-o-lantern in the background is another paint can I did and that one was done by masking out an area with a Cricut vinyl cutout , using crackle medium, then pulling off the sticker. I included a few photos of this one too. Once my paint can was empty I set it out in the driveway to dry up the rem...
Decorative Halloween Wall Mirrors

I typically don't decorate for Halloween (since my kids were young) but I like to come up with Halloween projects because there are so many options. Now, once I execute and idea I let one of my girls take it for their places. I thought these mirrors would be neat and different. In addition, they are versatile, as they can be hung on the wall or placed on a counter top. You don't have to be able to freehand draw to make these but if not, you will need carbon paper. The mirrors are from Dollar Tree. I painted one black and one white. I traced the mirror on a piece of paper. You can either draw your image or print something out from on line. After I drew my image I used the carbon paper to transfer it onto the white mirror, ensuring that it is centered. I used my black paint pen to outline the image. This makes the lines sharper than if you were to use your paint brush. I then switched to my brush to fill in the skull head. ...
