Halloween Spider Basket

This Dollar Tree project was very easy and I think it turned out adorable.
I used a Dollar Tree woven basket, one napkin that I had purchased from Joanne Fabric (actually only 1/4 of that napkin), mod podge and paint.
I separated the napkin plies first because it is easier doing it as a whole napkin verses the isolated image.
I tore one spider off from the napkin. Cutting the image out with scissors typically leaves harsh lines when working with napkins and mod podge, although on this woven basket it would have made no difference because the napkin fell right into the grooves of the basket.
To make it interesting I actually placed the spider inside the basket and the web on the outside.
For the web I used my silicone stamps (from Amazon) and stamped it onto the extra ply that I removed from the spider stamp. I use Archival ink because it is permanent.
The one tip I have with mod podge and napkins is that you need two brushes (one kept dry). You barely need any mod podge on the surface before the napkin is placed down. Otherwise you will get wrinkles from too much mod podge.
I use the slightest amount, place the napkin then brush out the wrinkles using the dry brush. After about 30 min i come back over with a coat of mod podge to seal it.
I did not have candy in my house when I staged this basket but that is what i will put in if the trick or treaters leave me any.
Happy Halloween crafting!

Halloween Recycled Paint Can

I repurposed this empty paint can into a Halloween decor piece and I am really happy with it. It can be used as a candy bin for Halloween night or to put Mums on your front porch the entire month of October. I had seen this ghost pattern on several Halloween decor pieces last year at Marshalls and fell in love with it. I love a repeat pattern so I had to try it and I knew it would be fairly easy to duplicate as you will see in my pics. I would say not to worry about messing up because in the end it will still look adorable. As you can see, my ghosts look completely different than the throw blanket photo I included which I used for reference. The jack-o-lantern in the background is another paint can I did and that one was done by masking out an area with a Cricut vinyl cutout , using crackle medium, then pulling off the sticker. I included a few photos of this one too. Once my paint can was empty I set it out in the driveway to dry up the rem...
Decorative Halloween Wall Mirrors

I typically don't decorate for Halloween (since my kids were young) but I like to come up with Halloween projects because there are so many options. Now, once I execute and idea I let one of my girls take it for their places. I thought these mirrors would be neat and different. In addition, they are versatile, as they can be hung on the wall or placed on a counter top. You don't have to be able to freehand draw to make these but if not, you will need carbon paper. The mirrors are from Dollar Tree. I painted one black and one white. I traced the mirror on a piece of paper. You can either draw your image or print something out from on line. After I drew my image I used the carbon paper to transfer it onto the white mirror, ensuring that it is centered. I used my black paint pen to outline the image. This makes the lines sharper than if you were to use your paint brush. I then switched to my brush to fill in the skull head. ...
