I freshened up this pumpkin to give it a coastal feel using a blue paint pen and a Dollar Tree stencil. You can use a paint pen in the color of your choice. The pumpkin was purchased at Michaels. I buy a lot of them after season when they are marked down to make way for the Christmas merchandise. The paint pen I used is a Sharpie. I typically use all DecoColor paint pens from Joanne fabric but I only had navy blue in that brand and wanted something a little brighter to fit into a coastal home. I did not use the stencil in the conventional way by pouncing paint through with a sponge. I used it as more of a guide to keep the pattern all the same size. I am normally good with keeping things sized but I felt like if I hand drew this, because the pumpkin was three dimensional, by the time i got around to the back I would be getting smaller with my design (just like we did as kids on a chalkboard lol) First, I used the shorter fuller branch to place randomly arou...

I made these pumpkin candlesticks the same way (and at the same time) as I did the ghost candlesticks in the previous post . If you need additional info you can refer to the ghost post but they are pretty self explanatory especially sine i did not do the cement part. My husband did that so i have little info on that. I got the mold at Hobby Lobby 40% off so it was about $2. Happy Fall Crafting! Instagram: TheRepurposedPainter Facebook: The Repurposed Painter

I designed this mini pumpkin breadboard using a stamp from Hobby Lobby, copper mica powder and Elmer's clear glue. I was really happy with the way it turned out. The first photo does not depict how vibrantly these pumpkins shine because of the metallic mica powder. It was overcast when i took that photo but you can see it in some additional photos I have included. I had this mini breadboard from a two pack I purchased at Aldi supermarket a few years ago but they currently have similar breadboards at Hobby Lobby and Michaels for a few dollars. They even have one at Dollar Tree that I saw on their website. First I painted the mini breadboard with white paint. I use regular enamel wall paint that I get from the "oops" section at Home Depot. I buy all gallons I find in white, black and navy because they are the colors I use most. I paint a lot of coastal pieces. After the white paint was completely dry I stamped a repeat pattern with my rubber pumpkin stamp th...

This coastal set of soaps was probably less than $1 (each) to create and anyone can do it even if you cant free hand draw. I started with a 3 pack of soap from Dollar Tree. Because the soap was embossed with the brand name I had to use the soap planer (my daughter bought me for my birthday actually for candles but it works better on soap since that's what it was intended for) After I made the surface flat I took one piece of tissue paper (I purchased at the Dollar Tree in the gift wrap section). There is a shiny side and a matte side. You want to use the matte side. Find an image you like that is similar to a coloring book style (or draw your own on a piece of paper). I cut the piece of paper the size of the soap first so I knew what size to draw my swimsuit. Place the tissue paper on the drawing and trace it with the watercolor marker (Archival ink is permanent and wont smear) Once the drawing is on the tissue just let it sit for about an hour before you adhere it to ...

Halloween Recycled Paint Can

I repurposed this empty paint can into a Halloween decor piece and I am really happy with it. It can be used as a candy bin for Halloween night or to put Mums on your front porch the entire month of October. I had seen this ghost pattern on several Halloween decor pieces last year at Marshalls and fell in love with it. I love a repeat pattern so I had to try it and I knew it would be fairly easy to duplicate as you will see in my pics. I would say not to worry about messing up because in the end it will still look adorable. As you can see, my ghosts look completely different than the throw blanket photo I included which I used for reference. The jack-o-lantern in the background is another paint can I did and that one was done by masking out an area with a Cricut vinyl cutout , using crackle medium, then pulling off the sticker. I included a few photos of this one too. Once my paint can was empty I set it out in the driveway to dry up the rem...
Decorative Halloween Wall Mirrors

I typically don't decorate for Halloween (since my kids were young) but I like to come up with Halloween projects because there are so many options. Now, once I execute and idea I let one of my girls take it for their places. I thought these mirrors would be neat and different. In addition, they are versatile, as they can be hung on the wall or placed on a counter top. You don't have to be able to freehand draw to make these but if not, you will need carbon paper. The mirrors are from Dollar Tree. I painted one black and one white. I traced the mirror on a piece of paper. You can either draw your image or print something out from on line. After I drew my image I used the carbon paper to transfer it onto the white mirror, ensuring that it is centered. I used my black paint pen to outline the image. This makes the lines sharper than if you were to use your paint brush. I then switched to my brush to fill in the skull head. ...
