I used a few empty glass candle votives that I got from Hobby Lobby and turned them into pumpkin candles from the inside. I used a stencil, glass paint and candle wax. The stencil will need to be adhesive since the surface is concave and would not lay flush otherwise. I used my Cricut machine to cut mine but there are self adhesive stencils at Michales and Hobby Lobby. First I made sure to clean the inside of the glass votive so that the adhesive would stick well (although I did have a few gaps). I placed the stencil then applied the glass paint. I put two layers. I let the paint dry overnight because I wasnt sure if the hot wax would cause the paint to melt. I melted one of the large DT prayer candles by placing it in a pot of boing water (sorry no photos). This one candle did about 5 votives (I did a few Christmas ones as well). While I let the wax cool down I placed a wick inside the glass and used a bit of hot glue to keep it in place....

I typically don't decorate for Halloween (since my kids were young) but I like to come up with Halloween projects because there are so many options. Now, once I execute and idea I let one of my girls take it for their places. I thought these mirrors would be neat and different. In addition, they are versatile, as they can be hung on the wall or placed on a counter top. You don't have to be able to freehand draw to make these but if not, you will need carbon paper. The mirrors are from Dollar Tree. I painted one black and one white. I traced the mirror on a piece of paper. You can either draw your image or print something out from on line. After I drew my image I used the carbon paper to transfer it onto the white mirror, ensuring that it is centered. I used my black paint pen to outline the image. This makes the lines sharper than if you were to use your paint brush. I then switched to my brush to fill in the skull head. ...

I made this set of guest towels for my daughter's powder room using the Dollar Tree iron on vinyl and a set of their hand towels. They are purely decorative but can be used from year to year. She has an annual Halloween party and goes all out so these were perfect. I did use my cricut machine for this project only because the image I chose had a little more detail. You can easily replicate this with a ghost or spider by using scissors. I grabbed a set of white hand towels from Dollar Tree and a pack of their black iron-on vinyl. I also used some black and white polka dot material from my box of material. I like to use the traditional Halloween shapes and silhouettes but in a bit of a whimsical manner. I cut my set of skeleton heads on one of the iron-on sheets using my cricut machine and chose where I wanted to place it. I had actually never done iron-on prior to this so I had to read the directions on the box. I did not take photos of this pr...

Halloween Recycled Paint Can

I repurposed this empty paint can into a Halloween decor piece and I am really happy with it. It can be used as a candy bin for Halloween night or to put Mums on your front porch the entire month of October. I had seen this ghost pattern on several Halloween decor pieces last year at Marshalls and fell in love with it. I love a repeat pattern so I had to try it and I knew it would be fairly easy to duplicate as you will see in my pics. I would say not to worry about messing up because in the end it will still look adorable. As you can see, my ghosts look completely different than the throw blanket photo I included which I used for reference. The jack-o-lantern in the background is another paint can I did and that one was done by masking out an area with a Cricut vinyl cutout , using crackle medium, then pulling off the sticker. I included a few photos of this one too. Once my paint can was empty I set it out in the driveway to dry up the rem...
