I saw these on Pinterest last year and had to give it a try. I especially like projects that require little supplies and all that was needed were rocks (which I always have), paint and my paint pens. Other than that I coated them with Triple Thick for a nice shiny finish. Rocks are from Hobby Lobby and they also sell the Triple Thick. I try to choose the rocks that have an overall round shape but they really work on any shape that comes in this bag. I also made ghosts rocks (which you can see peeking out from behind) that came out cute as well! Instagram: TheRepurposedPainter Facebook: The Repurposed Painter

This Dollar Tree project was very easy and I think it turned out adorable. I used a Dollar Tree woven basket, one napkin that I had purchased from Joanne Fabric (actually only 1/4 of that napkin), mod podge and paint. I separated the napkin plies first because it is easier doing it as a whole napkin verses the isolated image. I tore one spider off from the napkin. Cutting the image out with scissors typically leaves harsh lines when working with napkins and mod podge, although on this woven basket it would have made no difference because the napkin fell right into the grooves of the basket. To make it interesting I actually placed the spider inside the basket and the web on the outside. For the web I used my silicone stamps (from Amazon) and stamped it onto the extra ply that I removed from the spider stamp. I use Archival ink because it is permanent. The one tip I have with mod podge and napkins is that you need two brus...

There is really not much to this project that you can't gather by looking at the pictures so i won't go into too much but I think he came out super cute! The wood pieces and the straw hats are both from Dollar Tree. I removed the little gingham patch that came on the hat because I wanted to add some patterns that I thought would look nicer. I used my ribbon for one of them. I glued those onto the wood then glued the wood pieces together with some straw beneath the hat. Of course you can add a face but sometimes I like to go against the tradition for a more modern version of things. I contemplated just doing the nose because it is a unique feature of the scarecrow but moved onto something else so no face for him. He is quite small but looks really cute on top of a stack of books with larger Fall decor pieces! Instagram: TheRepurposedPainter Facebook: The Repurposed Painter

I repurposed this empty paint can into a Halloween decor piece and I am really happy with it. It can be used as a candy bin for Halloween night or to put Mums on your front porch the entire month of October. I had seen this ghost pattern on several Halloween decor pieces last year at Marshalls and fell in love with it. I love a repeat pattern so I had to try it and I knew it would be fairly easy to duplicate as you will see in my pics. I would say not to worry about messing up because in the end it will still look adorable. As you can see, my ghosts look completely different than the throw blanket photo I included which I used for reference. The jack-o-lantern in the background is another paint can I did and that one was done by masking out an area with a Cricut vinyl cutout , using crackle medium, then pulling off the sticker. I included a few photos of this one too. Once my paint can was empty I set it out in the driveway to dry up the rem...

I would not have normally chosen to do bees on a pumpkin because I use them more in my spring decor but I wanted to try the decoupage method on this Dollar Tree cement pumpkin and the bee was the only napkin I had that wasn't Christmas themed. I think it came out really nice. I didn't take too many pics (sorry) but after I painted the flat pumpkin white, I separated the plies of the napkin . Then I tore the bees out and used a little mod podge to apply each one to create a random pattern. They went on the pumpkin really nicely, hardly wrinkled. I purchased the bee napkins at Bob's Garden Center (local). The flat cement pumpkin, as I said is from Dollar Tree. The green pumpkin is also from Dollar Tree and I used a Dollar Tree stencil on that one. See photos for the blue pumpkin (a few posts back) because its the same method. Paint pen to draw the lines using the stencil as a guide then fill in once you pull the stencil away. It's easier that way. The large pumpkin is ...

Decorative Halloween Wall Mirrors

I typically don't decorate for Halloween (since my kids were young) but I like to come up with Halloween projects because there are so many options. Now, once I execute and idea I let one of my girls take it for their places. I thought these mirrors would be neat and different. In addition, they are versatile, as they can be hung on the wall or placed on a counter top. You don't have to be able to freehand draw to make these but if not, you will need carbon paper. The mirrors are from Dollar Tree. I painted one black and one white. I traced the mirror on a piece of paper. You can either draw your image or print something out from on line. After I drew my image I used the carbon paper to transfer it onto the white mirror, ensuring that it is centered. I used my black paint pen to outline the image. This makes the lines sharper than if you were to use your paint brush. I then switched to my brush to fill in the skull head. ...
